LETTER OF ENDORSEMENT:
9 May 1996
Mr. Palle Jensen, President
RUF International
Roedovre, Denmark
Dear Palle:
Thank you very much for your presentation of RUF International's proposed solution to
urban traffic congestion to CALMODE members this past March. It is my pleasure to inform
you that CALMODE, Southern California's regional alliance for development of Dual-Mode
Personal Transportation Systems (DMPTS), endorses your RUF system and will make every
effort to promote its development, testing and implementation within Southern California.
In this regard, CALMODE members look forward to working closely with RUF International,
both as a group and individually, to bring RUF-DMPTS to market.
As you know, CALMODE's mission is to expedite the quality design, integration,
manufacture, and commercialization of profitable Dual-Mode Personal Transportation Systems
(DMPTS) and related technologies for participating private enterprises and public
agencies. CALMODE is spearheaded by the College of engineering at the California State
University, Long Beach and is joined by such eminent companies as Parson Brinckerhoff, IAV
Gmbh, U.S. Electricar, GM/Hughes, Lockheed, The Edison Company, SwedeTrack Systems AB,
among others; as well as other major research institutions, including UCLA, UCI, USC,
University of Washington, and the Center for Commercial Deployment of Transportation
Technology (CCDOTT). Other significant participants are the Orange County Business
Council, Caltrans, and the Southern California Association of Governments.
Palle, we believe that the strategig alliance of RUF International and CALMODE will do
much to speed the transformation of urban centers in all nations toward more rational
transportation modes. Doing so within a competitive economic framework, we not only will
increase urban mobility and enhance air quality, but we will create tens of thousands of
new jobs and contribute to an improved quality of life worldwide.
Yours truly
